Historic Parks and Gardens

Dominic has thirty years’ experience working on historically sensitive designed Gardens & Parks, ranging from Medieval to Twentieth Century sites. Dominic is not an historian and always works with qualified researchers. His skill is in interpretation of the research findings: plans, images, transcripts, accounts, commentary, etc. – and building up a picture of how the site developed over time. The aim is to make a simple to understand set of plans (map – regression) that show how the site looked at key moments in its development. These can be compared with current condition and appearance and used to plan future management and interpretation.

There is often a need to insert new infrastructure in to an historic site, e.g.: cafe / toilets / administration, parking, footpaths, etc. and DCLA enjoys working out how to do this whilst maintaining the integrity of the site.
